How Do the AeroGarden Indoor Herb Gardens Work?
You know that the AeroGarden™ produces magnificent vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit but what you might not necessarily understand is how it works. It is essentially less complicated than you think. Within each AeroGarden™ unit is a small microprocessor programmed to provide an optimal environment for your plants. How does it understand what environment to provide? Simply because you turn the dial on the front of the AeroGarden™ to indicate to it what you’re growing. Instantly the humidity, nutrients, and compact fluorescent light requirements are fine-tuned to satisfy the requirements of your plants. Even more interesting than the internal microcomputer is the science that goes inside each and every seed and nutrient tablet. AeroGrow scientists have taken years of NASA aeroponic research for large scale operations and patented a small scale, organic approach for the mass market. The seeds are designed for fast growth and a large yield. Each nutrient pellet is derived from minerals salts such as the same type of mineral salts you might find in typical multi-vitamins; and is designed to neutralize your tap water for optimal growing conditions.

How To Do Hydroponics
Hydroponic are fun and an interesting activity that is much easier than you think which can transform your garden. With hydroponics are an ideal when it comes to growing tomatoes, exotic flowers and food.
How to do hydroponics? Hydroponics are grown indoors which can be grown in either a house or green house. These can be done with grow lights or even natural sunlight if it?s in the case of a green house environment. The hydroponic system requires three essential things; natural or artificial light, solution which is nutrient which is applicable to plants and its conditions and something that can hold both the solution and the plant intact.
The basic hydroponic system is not that complicated, it?s a bucket filled with solution and net which is suspended so that the plant?s roots are in contact with the solution. The solution is constantly should be replaced with fresh nutrients and water and also the plant needs to get enough sunlight on a daily basis. This system is more feasible for people who live in apartments. As hydroponics is requires a low budget investment and is more applicable for those aren?t planning to grow a lot of vegetables or plants. This will not however be suitable for a serious gardener as it restricts the potential of utilizing their skills. A hydroponic system can be adopted under a larger system rather than a small one.
To set up a hydroponic system for a typical home, a pre fabricated hydroponic kit needs to be purchased and assembled. Many parts of the kits can be made at home itself quite easily. The setup will consist of two large plastic trays or beds, which will be needs rock wool media to fill the bed till the brim. A dilution nutrient solution needs to be mixed. The kit will also have a pump system and a reservoir for distributing solution.
The trays which are set on a platform to hold the plants are made for easy access for the gardener. The bottom beds are covered in uniformity by a rock wool, this will allow a clear flow of the both the nutrient and water solution through the beds. Attached to one end of the bed you will find a drain, this uses gravity to drain into the reservoir. The reservoir will have another hose with a small electric pump; this feeds the solution to the other end of the opposite drain.
Most hydroponic systems are DIY which can be constructed to suit your needs. However it needs the essential elements to keep it growing.
Hydroponic Gardening
Hydroponic gardening has become very popular with many housewives simply because it is a great way of obtaining a harvest of fresh fruits and vegetables in a very short period of time. If you are worried about maintenance, hydroponic gardening requires the least amount of it. With the limited space and resources needed, one can be assured of getting a harvest full of fresh fruits and vegetables that are healthy, nutritious and safe to eat.
Hydroponic gardening utilizes certain techniques that were first introduced in the early 1900?s. The main ingredient used for the growing of plants is water, in addition to other growing mediums. You may wonder why such growing mediums are used when the traditional way of gardening doesn?t require such techniques. The root systems of the plants have to be fresh and strong in order to produce fruits and vegetables that are fresh and nutritious. These growing mediums support the root system as well as control the nutrients that are given to the plants.
The world we live in has certain geographical areas that don?t have soil that is rich in minerals for the betterment of growing plants. Such places require hydroponic gardening as this can be done in places that plants cannot otherwise be grown. Thousands of people use this same method for indoor gardening.
Some gardeners use a medium based system for their hydroponic gardening. One of the mediums includes Rock wool. The two primary ways of utilizing these mediums are static and continuous flow irrigation. The plants are suspended in a solution of water and nutrients for the Static solution. The plants are then given the appropriate light and are allowed to grow little by little. Each harvest requires a different placing of the solution. Extra nutrients are sometimes added during the growing season.
The more common type of method used is the continuous flow irrigation. In this case, automated pumps are used to circulate the nutrient solutions.
Some of the advantages of hydroponic gardening include; a higher yield, a good harvest obtained even under poor soil conditions, temperature and weather conditions are irrelevant during the growth of the plants, efficient control of pests and various diseases, etc.
Hydroponic gardening also has its downsides. One fact remains that its costs are quite high. The heating and cooling procedures require a lot of money. Unless you have the required skill to manage and grow the plants, hydroponic gardening takes up a lot of time.
Hydroponic Farming
With drastic changes made to the world we live in, it has become so modernized that we sometimes tend to forget how our forefathers lived on just farming and living a simple yet happy life. Today almost everything seems to be a result of technology. This is why farming has dropped to a very low level in most countries. There are several reasons for this. Governments in many countries offer less support to farmers compared to other professions. Some farms were totally abandoned as the income obtained from it was very low and therefore as a result farmers went in search of different jobs.
When shortages were seen, the experts who had been studying this trend introduced the latest technology to enhance the agriculture business. This was hydroponic farming. Hydroponic farming is done with the usage of lesser soil than the traditional way of farming. This method of growing plants has become an efficient way of harvesting in a quick and easy manner. Almost all of these plants are supported by a nutrient solution that is given through an irrigated system.
Since the plants do not thrive on soil, the nutrients help in sustaining the goodness of each plant. The traditional way saw the harvest of a plant occurring just once or twice a year. Thanks to hydroponic farming, the case is different here. Since the harvest produced is not limited to one season, fruits and vegetables can be obtained all year round. Another advantage of hydroponic farming is that the whole farming process consumes only a little space therefore leaving extra space for other plants to be planted.
Today even households use this method for their farming in their very own backyard. Most countries that use hydroponic farming to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables see a boost in their food production. This is a great opportunity for countries that sell the excess to neighboring countries.
Hydroponic farming can be done in two ways. One is the usage of a medium culture and the other is the solution culture. When a medium culture is chosen, farmers need to use mediums such as sand or gravel, etc to handle the whole system. For the solution culture, it is usually a nutrient solution that is used.
Since there is a lesser amount of water used for hydroponic farming than the traditional way, farmers are able to save water to about 80%. Additionally, since soil isn?t used, plants are saved from soil-borne diseases.
